Easter is a great tradition and is especially loved by children as it’s an excuse to eat lots of chocolate!

This year Good Friday is on the 29^th of March and Easter Sunday is on the 31^st of March 2013.

Traditionally an egg is given as a gift at Easter to symbolise new life and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The first Easter egg gifts were bird eggs which were painted in bright colours and given as gifts during the Easter festival.

During the 20^th century the bird eggs were replaced with the chocolate eggs we now know and love to give our children at Easter.

Approximately 80 million chocolate Easter eggs are consumed each year in Britain and, with growing concerns that our children are eating too much chocolate, parents are now looking to find alternative gifts to give at Easter.
